1 in 5 people in Canada live with a disability.  

In this mini-series of 5 animated workshops, we’re going to show you why planning your business with accessibility in mind will open up valuable new markets to you while you're doing the right and legal thing.

20% of Canadians (and the world) have a visible or invisible, permanent or temporary disability. While a small segment of this population may not be able to travel due to acute mental or extreme physical disabilities, most DO want to travel and have money to spend. Sadly, the travel industry is not making this easy, whether intentionally or due to lack of knowledge.

  As business owners we all have a responsibility, both morally and legally, to make our products and services available to everyone. This engaging, accessible program will guide you on the knowledge you need and the obligations you have around inclusive, accessible tourism. 

In this video workshop series, you will learn:

• Workshop 1: Accessibly as part of your business planning process - why it is important ‘morally’ and financially; how to understand disability; the opportunity of addressing this multi-billion dollar travel market; and some great recourses you can use to start off on the right track. 
• Workshop 2: The barriers that currently exist, preventing people with disabilities from participating fully in daily life; how thinking about disability has changed over time; unconscious bias and how it affects our interactions and business; how to become a meaningful ally to our friends, neighbours and clients, living with disabilities. 
• Workshop 3: The law and our legal obligations as business owners when it comes to providing accessible products and services; doing what is legally required looks a lot like doing what is morally right.  
• Workshop 4: Meaningful Access, and how the principles of Universal design can help guide us as we plan accessibility into not only the physical spaces of our business, but also the policies and practices of our business. 
• Workshop 5: How to talk to the world about your business and accessibility; the importance of letting the world know that your businesses or organization takes accessibility seriously.
